Hello!  Lindsey Harper here! It’s not every day that I come across a vintage airplane for sale, but today I did!  I’d love to introduce you to this lovely aircraft available at public auction in Boyne Falls, Michigan on May 31, 2009.
This airplane for sale is a 1947 Piper Cub Super Cruiser.Check this auction out if you are a pilot or collector of vintage airplanes!

The Piper Cub line of aircraft palyed a major role in aviation history in the US.   The line began in 1927 by C. Gilbert and Gordon Taylor.  After the war, the Piper Cub line was discontinued, but now you can own an airplane that is over 50 years of age and a major part of the history of airplanes.In excellent condition, this airplane is is located at a private airstrip and is ready for bidding.

A plane had huge difficulties taking off recently in Australia when its computer was programmed with the wrong plane-weight, causing the tail to become massively damaged.

The Australian Transport Safety Bureau said that it was a human error that caused the incident and it was likely a miscalculation of the thrust needed to lift the plane from the ground. Investigations continue into the accident, which thankfully did not injury any of the Airbus’ 248 passengers. Unfortunately a section of the flights data recorder was ripped off during the incident and was damaged, making the job of confirming the cause very difficult.

The plane was heading down the runway at full speed just like it would during a normal take off. However, when the action was made to pull the nose into the air, nothing happened. More power was diverted to the thrusters and this enabled the front of the plane to tilt upwards, but the rear remained scraping along down the take off strip. Devastating damage was done to the end of the runway and to the planes back end, and the noise could be heard for miles around. Numerous runway LEDs signs were wiped out and all the rear beacon lights on the plane were lost.Full power was requested by the captain and the plane lifted from the tarmac but it was of course it could no longer continue on to its destination.Before the plane could land again at the same airport, it was required for safety reasons to eject its fuel out at sea.

Modern planes are fitted with lots of different computer systems and have miles and miles of cable that can go wrong. However, director of aviation safety, Julian Walsh has stated that it seems human error was the primary cause.  “Someone was not focusing when they entered the flight details and they were not double checked” Walsh said. He went on to commend the actions of both pilot and co-pilot, who have both now resigned

BAA Gatwick Airport is the 10th busiest international airport in the world. Gatcwick is the UK’s second largest airport, behind Heathrow, and is considered to be the worlds busiest singe runway airport.

Opened by her majesty Queen Elizabeth II in June, 1958, Gatwick celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2008. The name ‘Gatwick’ is, like many British place names, derived from old Anglo-Saxon words, in this case meaning ‘goat farm’ or ‘goat dairy farm’ to be more accurate.

Gatwick was the first UK airport to have its own railway station and a direct rail link. As the passenger numbers increased so the airport has expanded to accommodate them. The new North terminal at Gatwick was opened by the Queen in 1988.

The airport has continued to undergo further expansion with an extension to the South Terminal departure lounge in 2000 and a similar expansion to the North terminal departure lounge in 2005. The airport South Terminal had another extension added in 2008 and a new upstairs security search area was added.

Gatwick currently supports over 80 airlines flying to more than 220 destinations worldwide. Some of the most popular destinations from Gatwick are actually closer to home with many passengers using Gatwick for domestic, European and Irish flights. Airlines including US operators Delta, Northwest and Continental now offer a huge selection of long-haul flights to all areas of the world. The airport has received numerous awards including the 2008 Travel Bulletin ‘Best UK Airport’ award for the fifth year running.
