Kauai, the Garden Isle, renowned for its classic beauty is Hawaii’s oldest inhabited island. A volcano that erupted from the floor of the sea six million years ago has been shaped by wind and precipitation ever since, into a lush island paradise of rough canyons and pure tropical beauty.

Kauai’s most inspirational features — the Na Pali Coast’s14 miles of ocean cliffs soaring vertically 3,000 feet over a pristine wilderness shoreline, and Waimea Canyon, the “Grand Canyon of the Pacific” as Mark Twain called it — are mostly unreachable from the ground. They can only be viewed and appreciated in their entirety from the air. Helicopter flights over Kauai enable visitors to explore these glorious hidden spots where no one has ever lived.

There are two companies in Kauai that offer helicopter flights; both of them have skilled pilots who are also certified tour guides. Their flights offer aerial journeying of many fantastic Kauai features such as: Hanapepe Valley; Mana Waiapuna (Jurassic Park Falls); Olokele and Waimea Canyons; the Na Pali Coast; Bali Hai Cliffs; Hanalei Bay; Princeville, and; Wailua Falls (Fantasy Island Waterfalls). On a dry day, you can fly into the wettest spot in the world (with over four hundred and fifty inches of precipitation per year) located in the center of the old volcano, Mt Waialeale!

Aboard its modern American Eurocopter ECO-Star, Blue Hawaiian Helicopters offers Kauai Helicopter tours from Lihue. With its large interior, expansive windows, and two-way radio with Boze headsets, this high-tech craft provides passengers with glorious sweeping views of Kauai’s natural beauty.

Offering flights from both Lihue and Princeville, Sunshine Helicopters and Will Squyres Helicopter Tours have combined their twenty years of practice into one company. To explore this island’s natural treasures, Sunshine gives passengers a choice of either FXStar or state-of-the-art WhisperStar Kauai helicopters, using David Clark stereo aviation headsets.

Modern living brings on a lot of stress. One method to free your self of this stress would be to go on an journey vacation. However, trips can bring on yet an additional stress: Packing. Here are some ideas to make your next high activity holiday as tension free as possible:

Start by separating your items – a must have pile, and a like to have pile. This makes sorting easier. Then, put the should have items into your luggage. Whatever room is left over can be filled with the ‘wants’.

Now, On To What To Pack:

* Clothing: Obviously, you have to be clothed while enjoying your active vacation. Make sure to take into account the climate of where you are going. Is it tropical? Pack light clothing – but remember it may be cool at night. Will you be just on the water, or will you be going out on the town? It’s usually a good idea to bring a nice outfit for going out in just in case, since you never know. cotton is always a good choice in tropical weather too, since it breathes. If you are going on a colder active holiday, make sure you have outerwear that is fitting for the area.

Packing the same colors will make choosing outfits a breeze, especially if you are like me and what you wear depends on your mood!

*Footwear: You could be one of two extremes – someone who could roam around barefoot all of the time, or someone who must bring every pair in their closet wherever they go. Find a happy medium. Bring at least 2, but no a lot more than 5, pairs – and make sure you have a range between comfy & dressy, just in case.

* Alarms: Changing time zones can be hard to keep track of. Jet lag sets in, and you may discover your self still going by your home’s time zone. Make sure to bring an alarm of some type set to the current zone so you don’t miss any of your journey activities!

* Medicines: Do NOT forget everyone’s prescriptions! Remember that going to a different country, or even a different city, can make renewing a much needed prescription very difficult if 1 runs out. So make sure they are full, & you bring them. Also important – bring the doctor’s orders – you don’t want to be accused of doing anything illegal!

* Toiletries: Although many hotels and resorts offer these, such as shampoos, many people prefer to bring their own. Don’t forget feminine hygiene products, & be sure to seal any liquid items in a plastic ziploc bag or some other type of plastic containers in case they leak.

* Credit cards & cash: It’s always a good idea to use international credit cards or travelers checks instead of cash. If you must bring cash, please be careful & keep it locked in a safe as a lot as possible. For your cards, if you can bring two, even better – if you lose one or the ATM eats it – you have a spare! You can pay for your activity holidays aswell.

These seven best adventure holiday packing ideas should help you plan for your next active adventure with a lot less stress. Just keep in mind that the point of this trip is to relax and have fun – so make sure you do so! Also see adventure holidays and some windsurfing reviews

Molokini “crater” is a crescent-shaped, partly submerged volcanic cone peeking out from the Alalakeiki Channel about 3 miles west of South Maui’s Makena State Park. For any tourist keen on Maui’s magnificent marine world, it’s a must to do a Molokini crater snorkel, just ask anyone who’s ever done it.

Molokini is 1 of the top 10 dive and snorkel sites in the world because of its incredibly clean water, with visibility exceeding 100 feet. Reachable only by sea, Molokini is also a Marine Life Conservation District and Seabird Sanctuary.

It is no wonder that Molokini is such a well-liked location for scuba diving—its back side drops off to depths of 300 feet, stretching close to ½ mile across its diameter. Its semi-circular shape acts as a wall, offering a guard from wind, waves and the currents of the channel. In the crater’s 30-foot-deep basin is a lush reef whose vibrant abundance and variety of marine life always surprises snorkelers on Molokini snorkel tours.

Several of the more than 250 species prevalent to Hawaii can be observed here and nowhere else on the planet! These unique creatures include parrot, butterfly, damsel, surgeon, and trigger fish, Moorish idol, snowflake eels, reef sharks and—the Hawaiian State Fish—Humuhumunukunukuapuaa.

Other sea creatures that have been reported in Molokini crater are whale-sharks, humpback whales, spinner dolphins, Hawaiian monk seals, and Hawaiian rays. In the morning, before Molokini winds and waves pick up, is usually the most excellent time for snorkeling.

There are a few excellent outings from Maalaea Harbor that provide delicious snacks and lunches, as well as naturalist guides who will make your experience educational and fun. These boats fill up rapidly, so schedule yours well ahead. One such popular tour is the Allii Nui Molokini snorkel sail tour. All the snorkeling equipment you need is included in the tour.
